Child Sleep Disorders
Sleep Disorders in Children
Children can also have Obstructive Sleep apnoea (OSA) or more likely Sleep Disordered breathing (SDB).
Risk factors for children include; enlarged tonsils and adenoids, asthma, obesity and facial differences such as; small jaw and large tongue.
Snoring in children is not cute- Don’t ignore the snore and think they will grow out of it. Snoring is a sound when there is a blockage to the breathing and in kids this is serious. Untreated Sleep disordered breathing can lead to long term damage.
A child may present with symptoms such as: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), aggressiveness, learning difficulties, poor concentration, bed wetting, failure to thrive, slow growth, difficulty with sleeping and waking in the morning, snoring, restless and sweating while sleeping, night terrors and sleep walking.
A sleep Study can be conducted through Dusk till Dawn on your child to monitor their breathing at night. A comprehensive in-home sleep study is professionally set up by experienced sleep technicians and manually scored by paediatric sleep scientists. All sleep studies are approved and reported on by a Paediatric Sleep Physician. A review with a Sleep Physician and or an Ear Nose and Throat Specialist (ENT) is also recommended.
Dusk till Dawn Sleep Centre is the only centre outside of Brisbane who offer home sleep studies on children.
How we can help

Paediatric Sleep Questionnaire's can also be conducted by our Sleep Technicians, following specially formulated protocols. Once we have this information, an individual Sleep Plan is designed to suit your child and family. Sleep Education is implemented based on modern research.
